Parish Council adopts new Mission Statement

Our new parish mission statement is:

To know Christ better, live as He calls us to live, and make Him better known.

The new statement represents the first change for the parish since 1997. “By making it simpler, shorter, and more memorable, we hope the mission statement can become a true guiding force for parish ministries,” said John Duddy, Parish Council Chair.

As the Advent season ushers in a new church year, the Parish Council has adopted a new mission statement for the parish. The new statement is the result of much discussion and reflection by the Council with assistance from the Parochial Staff.

Fr Padraig, in approving the new statement said, “We are about the person, the presence, and the message of Jesus Christ. Our vision, what we are truly about, is to help people get to know Christ and live as he calls us to live. Hopefully that is our desire, what drives us to make him better known.”

“Our mission statement indicates what we pledge ourselves to do and to be.” Fr. Padraig continued. “Mission statements should be a lively pulsing presence in every area of parish life. They should be the foundation for our plans and programs. They should be a rich resource for us when we experience conflicting situations.”

Beginning in January of 2009, Fr. Padraig asks that every meeting in the parish begin with the Mission Statement as a constant reminder of who we are and who we hope to become.
